Position
Summary:
Responsible for maintaining safety, quality and productivity on all machinery and facilities.
Responsible for the execution of the Preventative Maintenance Program:
perform repairs, upgrades, rebuilds and preventive maintenance on all machinery.
Familiar with a variety of manufacturing floor concepts, practices and procedures.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, training, development and support of our maintenance support staff.
Essential Functions & Key
Responsibilities:
- Able to build a team of people who are self-sufficient with a high level of skill and high degree of motivation
- Oversees day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department
- Effectively develops, improves, coordinates, plans and executes the Preventive Maintenance Program
- Responsible for all facility-related equipment and systems:
electric utility, air compressors, boiler, hazardous waste - Prioritizes and completes assigned maintenance tasks and delegates to subordinates
- Ensures all employees are following safe work practices and procedures consistently and completely
- Transparently shares information up, down and across the organization
- Develops productive relationship with peers to execute plant strategy
- Monitors and controls maintenance operating costsReview repairs for quality or workmanship
- Improves existing plant and bag equipment to improve efficiency or reduce costs
- Coordinates outside contractor work from bid acquisition to construction
- Interacts with outside machine shops to fabricate machine parts
- Coordinates plant projects, design and development, overhauls, machine relocations, etc.
- Participates in machine troubleshooting and repair when necessary
- Coordinates with production manager, machine modifications to improve productivity
- Assists in safety program implementation and enforcement
- Participates in accident investigations
- Development and implementation of machine guarding systems
- Participates in conducting required annual training of plant personnel (lockout/tagout, confined space, fire extinguisher, Hazmat, etc.
) - Assists with all environmental issues
- Liaison for State or Federal Inspectors, Local Fire Department & Insurance inspections, including annual boiler inspections
- Conducts screening and interviews for new hires
- Assists plant management in any other area as needed
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrates strong fact-based decision-making
- Excellent problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
- Knowledge of the application of Lean Manufacturing, TPM and 5S methods
- Computer literate in MS applications:
Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and controls
- PLC and VFD experience
- Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly associates, management, and peers.
Collaborative. - Effectively communicates information both verbally and in writing
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing extrusion machinery preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical analytical skills required
- Expert level experience in LOTO systems required
- Does not deflect responsibility

Education and
Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Five years plant maintenance supervisory or management experience is required
- Excellent knowledge of machinery, manufacturing equipment and building and grounds maintenance in order to complete complex repairs and direct employees in their work
- Requires strong knowledge of extrusion and converting machinery, conveyers, hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication.
Must be able to calculate gear ratios, pitch, etc - Must have strong supervisory skills
- Requires individual with excellent electrical and mechanical knowledge in order to differentiate between the two problems and make correct decisions on how to repair
